APPLE
In a recent interview with The Washington Post, Apple CEO Tim Cook made a startling admission: even he isn’t entirely confident that Apple can fully stop AI hallucinations. Cook stated that he would “never claim” that the new Apple Intelligence system won’t generate false or misleading information with 100 percent confidence.
“We’ve done everything we know to do, including thinking very deeply about the readiness of the technology in the areas that we’re using it,” Cook explained. “So, I am confident it will be very high quality. But I’d say in all honesty, that’s short of 100 percent. I would never claim that it’s 100 percent.”

We've seen ChatGPT make mistakes, and recently, Google's search engine update bizarrely suggested using glue to keep pizza cheese from flowing off the bread. So, Apple is playing it safe here by being transparent about potential imperfections.
GOOGLE
Google is testing Android 15's theft detection features in Brazil, where phone theft is common. The "Theft Detection Lock" uses AI and sensors like gyroscopes to detect if a phone is snatched and locks the screen immediately.

This feature is part of broader security updates in Android 15, including a password-locked “private space” for sensitive data. If the phone detects sudden movements or is used on a different network, it locks itself to prevent theft. The anti-theft feature is currently available for beta testing in Brazil.

REBELLION & SAPEON
South Korean AI chip startups Rebellion and Sapeon are merging to strengthen their position in the global market and compete with industry leader Nvidia. The combined entity plans to focus on the growing demand for neural processing units(NPUs).
The merger, expected to close in the second half of 2024, will integrate over 230 employees from both companies. Major stakeholders such as SK Telecom, KT and SK Hynix remain committed, though the future of Rebellions partnership with Samsung Electronics is uncertain.
The AI demand surges, with tech giants like Apple, Google, Amazon, and Microsoft developing their own chips to reduce reliance on Nvidia. The meger follows significant fundraising, with Rebellions raising $124 million in Series B funding and Sapeon securing over $45 million in Series A funding.
Kling AI
Kling AI, developed by CHinese TikTok rival Kuaishou, is a new AI video generation model that rivals OpenAI’s Sora. It’s currently available only as a public demo in China through a waitlist and has gone viral with impressive video clips.
Early demos show Kling AI can create 1080/30p video up to two minutes long, with varied and coherent results despite some AI artifacts. The videos have been shared on the Kling AI website and social media, showcasing its potential.
While it’s uncertain when Kling AI will be available outside Chine, its quick rise in popularity suggests it could become a major player in AI video generation. However, it faces competition from OpenAI’s Sora, which is expected to release publicly later this year.
